Motors 4 Good accepts running and non-running titled vehicles, boats, trailers, and utility vehicles for donation or bargain sale. Just send us a message, give us a call, or fill out our donation form here and we can arrange to have your vehicle picked up. You will receive a donation letter starting the value of your donation that can then be utilized as a charitable donation on your taxes.
Motors 4 Good also provides free and affordable vehicles to families in need. If you know of someone in need, please have them contact us.

Is my donation tax-exempt?
Yes, Motors 4 Good is a 501 C 3 non-profit charity. Your donation’s actual value as determined after the sale price will be reported back to you within 30 days of the sale of your donation. Unless your vehicle is in need of repairs, we will usually liquidate your donation within 30 days of your donation. You can review the IRS rules for vehicle donations here.
How does a bargain sale work?
A bargain sale is when you agree to sell your property to Motors 4 Good at a discounted rate below fair market value. The difference in price between what you sell it to us for and what we are able to sell it for is your donation amount. If you are interested in a bargain sale, please email us at [email protected]

How is my donation’s value determined?
The valuation is based on the actual sales price. This amount will be provided to you within 30 days of your donation. In some cases, if your donation needs considerable repair work to prepare it for sale, we will not be able to provide the valuation until it’s sale. Additionally, if we provide your vehicle to a person in need or donate it to a supporting agency, we will provide a fair market value of your donation.
Does my donation support politics. lobbyists, or legislative work?
No. We support individuals, families, and other local charitable agencies directly through financial sponsorships and vehicle donations.

Are Mountain Motor Company and Motors For Good the same thing?
No, Mountain Motor Company is a private for-profit licensed car dealership. Motors For Good is a 501 C 3 public non profit. Currently, Mountain Motor Company provides paperwork and sales services to Motors For Good to meet the state standards for vehicle sales. Motors For Good is currently awaiting approval for a license to perform these services themselves. We anticipate this approval in the Spring of 2025.

Will you pick up my vehicle?
Yes, however, you are welcome to deliver it to us at our facility near the airport in Durango.
What if my title is from out of state?
As long as the title is in the donating party’s legal name, we are able to take out-of-state titles.
Who oversees Motors 4 Good?
Motors 4 Good is a 501 C 3 non-profit corporation that is overseen by a board of directors. The board manages donations and evaluates all requests for support requests. You can learn about our board here.

What do you do with my donation?
In most cases, your vehicle will be prepared for sale at auction so that the proceeds are available to provide scholarships and support services to families and youth in need. In some cases if a vehicle can be made available to a family in need or go to a supporting organization to further their work with families and youth, we will put it to that use. All of the support services we provide stay in the state of Colorado and more often than not, remain in La Plata, Montezuma, and Archuleta Counties. Where do the vehicles you auction off come from?
We acquire vehicles from private parties, dealerships, wholesale auctions, and bargain sales.
